55 inmates feared dead from cholera outbreak

About 55 inmates have been feared dead from the outbreak of cholera in the notorious prison locally known as "Jail Ogaden" in the regional capital of Jigjiga [Somali Region], and several others are in a severe condition following the outbreak of the disease. This also followed a report that in the last week [up to 28 Nov 2013], about 45 inmates have died in the cells after the guards forced them to drink from contaminated water Jerry cans.

More Cases of Dengue Fever

KARACHI: Fifteen more dengue viral fever cases were reported in Karachi on Saturday, increasing the patient toll TO 4414 in 2013, said Dr M Shakeel Aamir Mullick Focal Person for Dengue Surveillance Cell Sindh. He said that a total of 5,058 dengue fever.

Chikungunya Fever Outbreak

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has been advised outbreak of the mosquito borne viral disease, chikungunya fever, in the State of Yap.

According to health officials, more than 340 suspected cases have been identified on the main island of Yap and several of the smaller islands. According to a World Health Organization (WHO) fact sheet, chikungunya is a viral disease that is spread by mosquitoes.
