Increasing trend of HIV Ireland and Australia

The number of people diagnosed with HIV in Northern Ireland has increased by almost a fifth. Last year, 95 new cases of the virus were confirmed, most among homosexual men. It is no longer a death sentence for patients who get the best care and drugs.

Beware of counterfeit rabies vaccination  in  south east Asia

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has warned the public against a counterfeit rabies vaccine that is being sold in the country. The FDA and Novartis Healthcare (Philippines) have "determined that there is an illegally imported and unregistered Purified Chick Embryo Cell (Rabipur) Rabies Vaccine being offered for sale in vaccination clinics, drug establishments and outlets, and internet websites." A complaint sample of the vaccine was collected at Tabuk City.

Thousands of people stormed a rice warehouse on an island devastated by Typhoon Haiyan, authorities said Wednesday, highlighting the urgent need to get water, food and medical supplies into an increasingly desperate region.

It's a sound that many thought was long gone, but it's a sound that has been creeping back up in the United States. Colorado has reported more than 1,000 cases of it this year alone. It's the sound of whooping cough.

A 10-old boy from southern Kampot province has been confirmed positive for the H5N1 [avian influenza] virus, bringing the number of the cases to 24 so far this year [2013], the World Health Organization and the Cambodian Health Ministry said in a joint statement on [8 Nov 2013].

The boy was confirmed positive for human H5N1 avian influenza on [7 Nov 2013] after he was admitted to the Kantha Bopha Hospital in Phnom Penh with fever, cough, sore throat, a distended abdomen.

The outbreak of cholera in Mexico continues to rise as The Ministry of Health reports an additional four cases, two eah from Hidalgo and Veracruz states, according to a World Health Organization (WHO) update today. Vibrio cholerae Image/CDC/ Janice Carr.
