When you visit ITVC for a consultation, you can expect a thorough and personalised appointment with one of our expert travel doctors. If you are visiting for a travel consultation, we will review your travel itinerary, discuss your medical history, and assess any current health concerns to identify potential risks associated with your trip. Based on this information, we will recommend the appropriate travel vaccinations, medications, and health precautions tailored to your destination and activities. You’ll also receive practical advice on how to stay healthy during your travels, including tips on food and water safety, insect bite prevention, and managing common travel-related health issues.
If you are visiting the clinic for an OGUK medical examination, we will discuss your medical history and any concerns you have before conducting a thorough examination of your respiratory and audiometry function, and in some cases a urinary test.
What Medicare Rebates are Available for Consultations, Vaccinations, and Medications?
At the International Travel Vaccination Centre, our consultations are eligible for Medicare rebates, helping to make your travel health preparations more affordable. We currently charge $98 per consultation, and you will receive a $81 Medicare rebate, leaving you with a $17 out of pocket cost.
Travel-related services such as vaccinations and medications are not currently covered by Medicare, and will range in pricing depending on your destination, the duration of your trip, and your medical history and current health. You are welcome to call our clinics and check the pricing with our staff to ensure you are prepared for any costs associated with your travel health planning.

What Can My Private Health Fund Cover?
Your private health fund can offer additional support for travel health services, often covering expenses that Medicare does not. Depending on your policy, you may receive partial or full reimbursement for consultations at our travel medicine clinic, travel vaccinations, and preventative medications. Some policies even provide coverage for emergency medical evacuations and medical expenses incurred overseas. It’s important to review your private health insurance policy and consult with your insurer to fully understand what is covered, so you can effectively plan for your travel health needs and budget accordingly.
